About the event

This presentation will help participants understand how ongoing stress related to identity — along with repeated misunderstandings or invalidation while growing up — can deeply affect LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent young adults. It explains how experiences like masking, fear of rejection, or not feeling fully accepted can shape mental health, self‐confidence, and stress responses over time. Behaviors such as perfectionism, withdrawal, or people‐pleasing are reframed as coping strategies, not character flaws. Most importantly, it highlights how powerful support from caregivers, friends, and allies truly is, offering practical ways to create safety, repair past hurts, and strengthen connection.
