BOARD PRESIDENT APPLICATION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Douglas County Pride seeks a volunteer Board President who will have overall responsibility for financial, operational, and programmatic management of the organization. The Board President should be a strong and collaborative leader and organizer with excellent written and oral communications skills, creativity, and networking abilities. 

 

This is a working board. There is no paid staff. This role will help build the organization and be responsible for some day-to-day operations.

 

MISSION
The mission of Douglas County Pride is to build a supportive community for LGBTQIA+ residents of Douglas County and surrounding areas. We do this through community building, advocacy, and service.

 

VISION
To transform Douglas County into a diverse and inclusive community for LGBTQIA+ people of all identities, where everyone feels seen, heard, and that they belong.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set agenda for monthly board meetings

  • Chair monthly board meetings

  • Serve as the spokesperson of the organization

  • Provide oversight of the organization’s mission and carrying out of its priorities

 

The following are the responsibilities of the board president, working in conjunction with other board members.

  • Provide oversight of donor, sponsor, and grant development

  • Oversee organizational budget

  • Ensure implementation of a sustainable volunteer program 

  • Coordinate communication and outreach including social media, email, and website

  • Cultivate and strengthen key relationships through outreach and collaboration, and work to increase awareness of the organization

  • Satisfy all legal and fiduciary responsibilities of a non-profit board member

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in a leadership position (nonprofit experience preferred)

  • Reside in Douglas County Pride’s service area

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated support of the LGBTQIA+ community

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record of developing or propelling organizational growth and sustainability

  • Comfort driving financial development

  • Knowledge of the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)

 

TERM REQUIREMENTS
Two years
